Who is Shakti?

Shakti is a spiritual force that lies dormant at the base of the spine, or Muladhara Chakra. She is most often depicted in yogic art and text as a coiled snake sleeping within human anatomy.

Shakti is Sanskrit, meaning energy, strength, untamed power, and force. You may have heard of the energy of Shakti called by other names such as prana, chi, or the Holy Spirit. When Shakti awakens through yoga, meditation or remembering your divine nature, she rises through the seven main energy centers or chakras in the body creating an illumination where what is physical, you, becomes connected to divinity or what is spiritual, the infinite, soul aspect of you.
